Women empowerment/ Mahila udyog support
Empowering Women Through Sustainable Livelihoods Since 2020, Asha Unnayan Sansthan has been working closely with Mrs. Alpna Srivastava, a resident of Indira Nagar, Lucknow, to transform her passion for preparing traditional homemade food products into a sustainable livelihood. Mrs. Srivastava began her journey by making homemade papad, chips, and pickles (achar) in small quantities for a few families within her neighbourhood. While the quality and taste of her products were highly appreciated, her business remained limited due to the lack of market access, branding, and distribution support. Recognizing her determination and entrepreneurial spirit, Asha Unnayan Sansthan provided comprehensive support during the initial stages of her venture. The organization guided her in establishing a structured home-based enterprise, improving product presentation, and connecting her with potential customers beyond her immediate locality. Our team also actively supported her in developing a wider distribution network across Lucknow. Through community outreach, local exhibitions, word-of-mouth promotion, and market linkages, Mrs. Srivastava gradually expanded her customer base from a handful of households to hundreds of satisfied customers across different parts of the city. Today, her homemade chips, papad, and pickles are appreciated for their authentic taste, traditional preparation methods, and consistent quality. The business has become a reliable source of income for her family while preserving the traditional recipes that have been passed down through generations. Mrs. Alpna Srivastava's journey reflects how timely guidance, community support, and market access can transform a small home-based activity into a thriving micro-enterprise. Her success stands as an inspiration for many aspiring women entrepreneurs who wish to become financially independent without leaving their homes. At Asha Unnayan Sansthan, we believe that empowering one woman creates a ripple effect that strengthens families and communities. Mrs. Srivastava's remarkable progress continues to inspire our mission of promoting sustainable livelihoods and women-led entrepreneurship throughout Uttar Pradesh.
Women empowerment/ Mahila udyog support
Transforming Skills into Sustainable Livelihood In 2023, Asha Unnayan Sansthan initiated its support for Mrs. Poonam Chaurasiya, a skilled tailor from Shivpuri, Lucknow, with the objective of helping her build a sustainable and dignified source of income. When our association began, Mrs. Chaurasiya owned only a single basic sewing machine. Her work was largely limited to minor clothing alterations and repair services, which provided only a modest and irregular income. Despite possessing excellent tailoring skills, she lacked the equipment necessary to expand her services and reach a larger customer base. Understanding her potential, Asha Unnayan Sansthan mobilized financial support through private donors and facilitated the procurement of modern, high-quality sewing machines equipped with advanced stitching features. This intervention significantly enhanced her productivity and enabled her to diversify her work. With access to improved equipment, Mrs. Chaurasiya successfully expanded her business beyond simple repairs. Today, she designs and stitches custom-made dresses, school uniforms, ladies' garments, designer blouses, handcrafted cloth bags (koccha bags), quilts, home furnishing items, and a variety of customized textile products based on customer requirements. The increased production capacity has resulted in higher household income, greater financial stability, and enhanced confidence. Her enterprise has also become a valued local service, encouraging customers to choose high-quality handmade products while supporting local craftsmanship. Mrs. Poonam Chaurasiya's journey demonstrates how strategic financial assistance, modern tools, and continuous encouragement can unlock the true potential of skilled women entrepreneurs. Her story is a testament to the impact that targeted livelihood interventions can have in creating self-reliance and long-term economic empowerment. Asha Unnayan Sansthan remains committed to identifying talented women, strengthening their capabilities, and providing the resources and opportunities needed to help them build successful enterprises. Through initiatives like these, the organization continues to promote inclusive development and sustainable livelihoods for women across Uttar Pradesh.
Women empowerment
On 7th July, our team conducted a community awareness campaign in Ain Village, Sarojini Nagar, with the aim of empowering women and girls through education, livelihood awareness, and information about government welfare schemes. The session brought together around 20–25 women and girls, along with a few male community members who also participated in the discussion. The event created an open and welcoming space where participants could share their challenges, ask questions, and learn about opportunities available to them. One of the most meaningful moments of the campaign was when several young girls expressed their desire to continue their education and pursue higher studies. They spoke about the need for guidance and support to achieve their academic goals, highlighting the importance of accessible educational opportunities. The awareness session also focused on encouraging women to explore self-employment and home-based enterprises. Discussions covered how small businesses and household industries can become a source of financial independence while allowing women to contribute to their families and communities. In addition, participants were introduced to various government schemes related to education, women’s welfare, entrepreneurship, and social development. The objective was to ensure that community members are aware of the support and resources already available to them. This initiative reflects our continued commitment to creating informed, confident, and self-reliant communities. By promoting education, entrepreneurship, and awareness, we hope to help women and young girls unlock new opportunities and build a brighter future for themselves.
